A John Mayer night

I can trace your footsteps now.  I can go back to where I left in the book. I could walk the lane I once traveled.  But you are gone, and I feel it in the air. It’s that feeling of the flame extinguishing in a dark room, when the soul of a man leaves it to planes beyond our contemplation.  Yes, I feel you’ve left. But I am no longer sinking. I am no longer the kid who chased that stranger with the Jay Gatsby smile, I am no longer the kid who’d burn his eyes out reading. I am no longer the kid who’d try to protect the flame from the gusts of winds life blew. What I am now is what you’ve made me. I’m that ash that falls from a burning cigarette. I am that long sigh before you notice that your coffee is almost finished. I am not the smell of rain, but the earthy soil that absorbs. I can no longer love what I loved before. I am what you made me. I am, exhausted.

Micropoetry

We need to sail off,
Blow some steam, go places.

We need to break off,
And cry and go places

Ill routines and morose faces,
Facets and their aces,
We need to sail off, float a dream and go places.

Drowning

Drowning in a river,
Too numb to even shiver.
A noose around my neck,
A cry going unheard.
A bullet lost it's way,
Reaching out for you,
I'm drowning and i'm crying
So please come and save me,
To my home, please take me.
I'm drowning and I'm frowning,
You promised me love,
You left your soul in me.
Tears rush to break,
The prison that I made,
Please come back, please do love,
There's comfort in your arms,
Let me snatch the love I lost,
What had it even cost,
All my life and all my love,
Painully I will shove,
No love lost, No battle sounds,
No longer does my heart pound,
No love to be found,
So don't come around,
No places left to go,
No wings left to nurse,
You levied a curse.
Let me die alone,
Dimly our star shone.
And in that moment of time,
I committed the crime,
No love lost, no love found,
Let me disappear to not be found

Dance and Sway

Dance, and dance,
And sway, and sway.
Turn,  and turn,
For you, ill pray,
That every step,
And every song,
The lonely nights,
The hazy storm,
Will pass without,
Like a gentle breeze,
So no longer fear,
The wrath of any,
They're are still to come,
Fiercer many,
So dance and dance,
And sway and sway,
I'll pray for you,
To keep the demons away.

Rise Above

Sometimes my pen shakes,
It's when my heart loses faith,
It's when love bows to fear,
And everyone I hold dear,
Is clasped in the hands of death,
In that moment, I fret,
Feel so out of power,
So drained, so much,
So chained,  so tightly
The situations are such,
That I lose all faith.
Fall down on my knees,
But isn't it all fair?
All life is on lease,
Come do your part,
Get drunk? Get smart,
Holding on letting go,
An endless charade.
So join the parade,
Come dance and love,
Fall down and rise above.

Travel

I wrote this after my recent fascination with travel. Though i am yet to take on an journey on my own yet, i have been dazzled by that of those near me. France, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Bali, Thailand, Germany. These are all mainstream locations. If i travel someday, i will choose the most exotic locations the world has to offer. To name a few-

1. Flathead Lake, Montana
2. Seven Beaches with colored sand
3. Ten Buddha statues

My definition of travelling is not that mainstream again. Have you all heard of Paharganj? If not, You've GOT to read this article. I want to travel to such places. A euphemistic underbelly you can call it. I want to meet people who leave lasting impressions on you. That they their faces flash moments before you are dying. The ones that made this life worth living. The ones that helped you suck the marrow out of life. Let's not stand on ceremony here anymore, here is my poem, Travel

At some point,

I want to travel.
Visit the world’s cave,
And carefully unravel…
Travel to cities unknown,
Changing life and time zones,
Walk the shady unbranded lanes,
Run with horses, caress their manes…
Sink in the ocean blue,
Capture the sunset, the orange hue.
Sleep with women and their warmth,
Forget the world and it’s norms…
Cross a billion faces,
Walking in their own paces,
Throw a smile here and there,
Make a friend somewhere…
It’s so large and big,
Get some money, let’s watch a gig,
Take me places far,
take me places new,
I want to travel and see,
Where there have been few…
At some point, i want to travel,
The world and it’s secrets, i want to unravel..

Quatrains

My fascination and love for poetry is forever growing. Though i have committed a blasphemy by not yet having read all of Robert Frost's or Walt Whitman's poetry, i sincerely promise you and myself to do so.
Poetry only comes to me when my heart is overwhelmed with emotions that i can simply not fathom into anything but words. Then, the rhymes flow like small streams cutting through the soil, so elegantly and effortlessly to pool into a huge river. But such emotional outbreaks are hard to come back, and while i am dedicated to sucking the marrow out of my life, i see a lot of quatrains emerging in my head. They go as fast as they come, like shooting stars- If not recorded, they'll be forever lost. I mostly share them on twitter, but it's time i transported them here. Anyways, i'm done rambling, so i will share some quatrains that i have inked so far-

1.  You can't write a story,
     Can't force out a rhyme.
Need a fair bit of emotions,
And a little bit of time...

2.  So sleep with a smile on your face,
Because life is an endless maze.
You'll never solve it until you die,
So go out and eat some apple pie...

3.  And as time drifted us apart,
I lay on the glass shards.
     Broken promise and shattered dreams,
     Thunderous nights and silent screams...

I know three quatrains aren't many, but i will keep posting more. Your feedback is always appreciated :)
